Our Top Two Social Card Games, But One Is Far Superior Than The Other…

Why we think “Hey, It’s Me!” a new social card game is the superior choice over Healthier Together: The Deck, a game that’s been around for a little while.

We went scouring the internet for the best social card games and dinner conversation starters and we found a lot! My writing partner Thomas and I had no idea that the board game and table top games market was so big and saturated. To be honest, it is filled with mostly fantasy type games and of course dominated by the big players like Hasbro and Asmodee. We also discovered something far wilder than we ever imagined and that is there’s an entire universe online called Kickstarter, yes that crowdfunding platform, that is dedicated to funding board games. According to Technavio, a game which we’ve never heard of called Exploding Kittens, which launched via Kickstarter in January 2015 by raising $8.8 million in 30 days, and has sold a large number of games, around 2.5 billion by 2017. (Imagine those numbers now!) Owing to this, the investment is higher for board games as compared to advanced video games. This is because funding given through a crowdfunding platform is predominantly done by the general population or angel investors and not venture capitalists.

We wanted something of a different kind though. We wanted to find the best game that is both fun and good for the player’s well being. After sifting through the mammoth pile of fantasy games, we started narrowing our search for more sane options. Enters, Hey, It’s Me! from a company called Elliott Games- a brand new social card game and Healthier Together: The Deck, from Healthy Convo Co, a company founded by writer and lifestyle influencer Liz Moody.

We have played both and gifted both to several testers and here’s what we found. When it comes to choosing the perfect conversation starter game, the options can be overwhelming. While both games aim to facilitate meaningful conversations, there are several key reasons why “Hey, It’s Me!” stands out as the better choice.

A More Impressive and Gift-Worthy Package

One of the first things that sets “Hey, It’s Me!” apart is its presentation. Our game box is not only significantly larger but also much more attractive and gift-worthy. This makes it an ideal present for any occasion, whether you’re looking to surprise a loved one or treat yourself to something special. In contrast, Healthier Together: The Deck may have more questions, but the packaging lacks the same wow factor, making “Hey, It’s Me!” appear as a better value for money right from the start. Consumers love a pretty package!

Deeper, More Introspective Questions

While Healthier Together: The Deck features 150 questions across six categories, the content of “Hey, It’s Me!” is where the real difference lies. This game offers a collection of questions that are far more introspective and scenario-based, encouraging players to truly reflect on their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. “Hey, It’s Me!” is designed not just to stimulate conversation but to help players uncover deeper insights about themselves and each other.
